Close Encounter of the Floral Kind

One of the earliest blooms in my part of the country is the Pasqueflower (or Prairie Crocus). When I see these, my first thought is that spring has truly arrived. My second thought is often that I should grab my camera, get up close to one of these lovely meadow flowers, and try to create an interesting composition using the delicate shape, structure and color. Come On, Spring!

Normally I enjoy winter, but the winter of 2010-11 was long and I was ready for it to be over. A lovely bunch of tulips provided a little splash of spring color to help chip away at the last, chill clutches of winter. Copyright © Royce Howland. All rights reserved.
